Hands-on workshop explores Métis visual culture

Led by Nicole Mate (pípehó:m) and Elder Phil Gladue, this hands-on workshop explores the artistry, symbolism, and history of Métis visual culture. Known as the “flower beadwork people,” the Métis express deep connections to land, kinship, and identity through their intricate floral designs.

Participants will discover how these traditional patterns have evolved into contemporary dot art – a modern style inspired by pointillism that blends cultural teachings with creative expression.

Through this experience, participants will create their own Métis Dot Art piece to take home as a reflection of learning, connection, and creativity. All at 91 are welcome to register for this heart-centered workshop that brings together art, culture, and community in celebration of the Métis people and the enduring legacy of Louis Riel.
